چکیده

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the cyclic fatigue and torsional resistance three thermally treated rotary instruments, such as: Logic 2 25.05 (LOG 25.05), Edge Taper Platinum 25.06 (EDT 25.06) ProTaper Gold 25.08 (PTG 25.08).Methods: A total 60 instruments LOG 25.05, EDT PTG were used (n=20). Cyclic tests performed at 36°C using an artificial stainless steel canal with a 60o angle 5-mm radius curvature. time (in seconds) number cycles fracture (NCF) recorded. test evaluated torque rotation failure 3 mm from tip according ISO 3630-1. fractured surface each fragment observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Data analyzed one-way ANOVA Holm-Sidak’s for multiple comparison, level significance set 5%.
Results: had highest (time NFC), followed (P<0.05). There no significantly difference between ETP regarding NCF (P>0.05). In relation test, presented similar greater than other groups lowest angular SEM images demonstrated typical features fracture.

Cyclic fatigue resistance and three-dimensional analysis of instruments from two nickel-titanium rotary systems.

AIM To determine how instrument design affects the fatigue life of two nickel-titanium (Ni-Ti) rotary systems (Mtwo and ProTaper) under cyclic fatigue stress in simulated root canals. METHODOLOGY Cyclic fatigue testing of instruments was performed in stainless steel artificial canals with radii of curvature of 2 or 5 mm and an angle of curvature of 60 degrees . A total of 260 instruments were...

Effect of autoclave sterilization on the cyclic fatigue resistance of thermally treated Nickel-Titanium instruments.

AIM To compare the cyclic fatigue resistance of HyFlex CM, Twisted Files (TF), K3XF, Race, and K3, and evaluate the effect of autoclave sterilization on the cyclic fatigue resistance of these instruments both before and after the files were cycled. METHODOLOGY Five types of NiTi instruments with similar size 30, .06 taper were selected: HyFlex CM, TF, K3XF, Race and K3. Files were tested in a...

Effect of clinical use on the cyclic fatigue resistance of ProTaper nickel-titanium rotary instruments.

The resistance of ProTaper (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland) nickel-titanium rotary instruments to cyclic fatigue was examined after their initial use in straight or curved canals in vivo. These instruments were rotated freely inside a steel phantom until separation. The number of rotations before failure and the lengths of the separated fragments were compared with data derived fro...

Cyclic Fatigue of Different Nickel-Titanium Rotary Instruments: A Comparative Study

Since the introduction of nickel-titanium alloy to endodontics, there have been many changes in instrument design, but no significant improvements in the raw material properties, or enhancements in the manufacturing process. Recently, a new method to produce nickel-titanium rotary (NTR) instruments has been developed, in an attempt to obtain instruments that are more flexible and resistant to f...

Influence of continuous or reciprocating motion on cyclic fatigue resistance of 4 different nickel-titanium rotary instruments.

INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to evaluate the resistance to flexural fatigue of Reciproc R25 (VDW, Munich, Germany), WaveOne Primary (VDW, Munich, Germany), Mtwo (Sweden & Martina, Padova, Italy), and Twisted File (TF; SybronEndo, Orange, CA) instruments used in continuous rotation or in 2 different reciprocating motions. METHODS A total of 180 nickel-titanium files from 4 brands mar...
